En 1956, dans le village de Pankakoski, la méfiance entre les Roms et la majorité de la population a pris soudain un tour dramatique. Les hommes du village se sont rassemblés pour chasser les Roms. Le film prend cet incident historique peu connu comme point de départ, pour montrer comment les histoires et les légendes transmettent la véritable « voie des Roms » – et leur sentiment de non appartenance – d’une génération à l’autre.
The mistrust between the Romanies and the majority of the population escalated dramatically in the Finnish village of Pankakoski in 1956. The men of the village joined forces to drive the Romanies out. The film uses this little known historical event as a starting point. The film shows how the storytelling and the legends carry the "true Romani way" – and the sense of not belonging – over to the next generation.
